  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Ingredients for the filling:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
Ingredients for the cream cheese frosting:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (as needed for desired consistency)
Instructions:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until well combined and a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  6. After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  8. Starting from one long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a towel, and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating together softened butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add milk as needed to achieve desired consistency.
  12. Once the rolls are done baking, let them cool for a few minutes before spreading the frosting on top.
