Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread (your choice of bread, such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, or your favorite cheese)
- Butter or margarine, softened
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread butter or margarine evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet or griddle.
- Top each slice of bread with a slice of cheese.
- Place the remaining two slices of bread, buttered side up, on top of the cheese slices to form sandwiches.
- Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted.
- If desired, gently press down on the sandwiches with a spatula to help the cheese melt evenly.
- Once the sandwiches are cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet or griddle.
- Allow the sandwiches to cool for a minute or two before slicing them diagonally.
- Serve hot and enjoy the simple yet irresistible goodness of Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwiches!
