Ingredients:
  • 4 slices of bread (your choice of bread, such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, or your favorite cheese)
  • Butter or margarine, softened
Instructions:

  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter or margarine evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet or griddle.
  4. Top each slice of bread with a slice of cheese.
  5. Place the remaining two slices of bread, buttered side up, on top of the cheese slices to form sandwiches.
  6. Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted.
  7. If desired, gently press down on the sandwiches with a spatula to help the cheese melt evenly.
  8. Once the sandwiches are cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet or griddle.
  9. Allow the sandwiches to cool for a minute or two before slicing them diagonally.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy the simple yet irresistible goodness of Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwiches!
