I'm sharing here a recipe for making cream cheese brownies, which is one of the desserts I always crave for lately. These are decadent and fudgy chocolate brownies swirled with a creamy, tangy cream cheese layer.
Ingredients (Makes 16 Brownies):
For the Brownie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
For the Cream Cheese Swirl:
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup (65 g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pan and Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly with butter.
2. Make the Brownie Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
3. Make the Cream Cheese Mixture:
- In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
- Add sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until creamy and fully incorporated.
4. Assemble the Brownies:
- Pour most of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Reserve about 1/4 cup of the batter for the swirl.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer.
- Dollop the reserved brownie batter on top of the cream cheese layer. Use a knife or skewer to create swirls by dragging it through the layers.
5. Bake the Brownies:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve as is, or pair with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate sauce for a decorative touch.
