- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1/4 cup vermicelli pasta
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 2 cups water or chicken broth
- Salt to taste
- Rinse the Rice: Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.
- Toast the Vermicelli: In a medium pot, melt the butter or heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the vermicelli pasta and sauté, stirring frequently, until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add Rice: Stir in the rinsed rice and cook for another minute, coating the rice in the butter and toasting lightly.
- Add Water/Broth: Pour in the water or broth, season with salt, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and all the liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff and Serve: Remove from heat, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve warm.
