- 1 loaf of French or Italian bread
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley (if using), salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise to create two large halves.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread.
- Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the edges are golden brown.
- Remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Slice the garlic bread into individual servings and serve warm.
