Ingredients:
- 2 cups pomegranate juice (100% pure juice, not from concentrate)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
Instructions:
- Combine Ingredients:
- In a saucepan, pour the pomegranate juice and add the granulated sugar.
- Heat and Stir:
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the sugar completely dissolves. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes. Do not boil the mixture.
- Add Lemon Juice:
- Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat.
- Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice. This helps to balance the sweetness and enhances the tartness of the grenadine.
- Cool and Store:
- Allow the grenadine mixture to cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, transfer the grenadine syrup into a clean glass bottle or jar with a tight-fitting lid.
- Store:
- Store the grenadine syrup in the refrigerator. It should keep well for several weeks.
Notes:
- Pomegranate Juice: Use 100% pure pomegranate juice for the best flavor and color. Avoid juice blends or those with added sugars or preservatives.
- Sugar: Adjust the amount of sugar based on your preference for sweetness. You can add more or less sugar to suit your taste.
- Variations: Some recipes include a small amount of orange flower water or rose water for added flavor complexity. Feel free to experiment with these if desired.
