Ingredients:

  • 6 bratwurst sausages
  • 2 bottles (12 ounces each) beer (such as lager or ale)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 6 bratwurst buns
  • Mustard, ketchup, sauerkraut, chopped onions, or other toppings of your choice
Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl or resealable plastic bag, combine the beer, sliced onion, minced garlic, olive oil, paprika, dried thyme, ground mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  2. Add the bratwurst sausages to the marinade, making sure they are fully submerged. Cover the bowl or seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to infuse.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the bratwurst sausages from the marinade and discard the marinade. Place the sausages on the preheated grill and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
  5. While the brats are cooking, toast the bratwurst buns on the grill until lightly golden.
  6. Once the bratwurst sausages are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
  7. Serve the grilled beer brats hot in toasted buns, topped with mustard, ketchup, sauerkraut, chopped onions, or your favorite toppings.
  8. Enjoy the juicy and flavorful Grilled Beer Brats with your favorite sides and a cold beer!
Note: You can also cook the onions from the marinade on the grill alongside the brats until caramelized, then serve them as a topping for the brats.
