Ingredients:
- 4 cups blackberries
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
- In a saucepan, mash the blackberries with a potato masher until they're broken down. Stir in the sugar until the juices start to release.
- Remove 1 tablespoon of the blackberry juice from the saucepan and mix it with the cornstarch in a small bowl. Stir this mixture back into the saucepan.
- Bring the blackberries to a boil, cooking and stirring frequently until the jam thickens, about 15 minutes. Stir in the cinnamon and allspice.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the jam cool for about 30 to 45 minutes.
- Transfer the cooled jam to a bowl, cover it, and refrigerate until chilled. Stir in the lemon juice just before serving.
