- 1 pound chicken or pork liver
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup cream or milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Rinse the liver under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant.
- Add the liver to the skillet and cook until it is no longer pink in the center, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Transfer the cooked liver, onion, and garlic to a food processor or blender. Add the cream or milk, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the processor or blender as needed.
- If the liver spread is too thick, you can add more cream or milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Transfer the liver spread to a container and refrigerate for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the liver spread on bread or crackers, or use it as a filling for sandwiches or appetizers. Enjoy your homemade Liver Spread!
