- Salmon belly slices
- Cooked sushi rice or steamed white rice
- Soy sauce
- Mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
- Sugar
- Sesame oil
- Sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
- Optional toppings: avocado slices, sliced cucumber, shredded nori seaweed, pickled ginger
- Prepare the salmon belly: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and a dash of sesame oil to create a marinade. Marinate the salmon belly slices in this mixture for about 15-20 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated salmon belly slices to the pan, skin side down. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the skin is crispy and the salmon is cooked through.
- While the salmon is cooking, prepare the rice bowls. Place a serving of cooked sushi rice or steamed white rice in each bowl.
- Once the salmon is cooked, place it on top of the rice in each bowl.
- Drizzle some of the remaining marinade over the salmon and rice.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve the salmon belly rice bowls hot, and optionally, add toppings like avocado slices, sliced cucumber, shredded nori seaweed, or pickled ginger for extra flavor and texture.
