Hey everyone! I thought I’d share my go-to recipe for a simple, crusty white bread. It’s perfect for beginners but still gives you that bakery-style vibe. I love how it fills the house with that fresh bread smell! Let me know if you try it and how it turns out. 😊
Ingredients:
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (not too hot!)
Steps:
  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s frothy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until it forms a shaggy dough.
  4. Turn it onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a baking stone or an overturned baking sheet inside to heat.
  7. Punch down the dough, shape it into a round loaf, and place it on parchment paper.
  8. Slash the top with a sharp knife for that classic crusty look.
  9. Bake on the preheated stone for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
