- 1 pound suahe (shrimp), deveined and cleaned
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, julienned
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped green onions and cilantro for garnish
- Prepare a steamer by filling a pot with water and bringing it to a boil.
- In a bowl, mix together the minced garlic, julienned ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cooking oil, salt, and pepper.
- Place the cleaned suahe (shrimp) in a heatproof dish or plate that fits inside your steamer.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the shrimp, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Once the water in the steamer is boiling, carefully place the dish with the shrimp into the steamer.
- Cover the steamer and let the shrimp steam for about 6-8 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.
- Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the steamer and garnish with chopped green onions and cilantro if desired.
- Serve the steamed suahe hot with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes.
