Ingredients:
  • 1 pound suahe (shrimp), deveined and cleaned
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, julienned
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions and cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
  1. Prepare a steamer by filling a pot with water and bringing it to a boil.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the minced garlic, julienned ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cooking oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place the cleaned suahe (shrimp) in a heatproof dish or plate that fits inside your steamer.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the shrimp, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  5. Once the water in the steamer is boiling, carefully place the dish with the shrimp into the steamer.
  6. Cover the steamer and let the shrimp steam for about 6-8 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  7. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the steamer and garnish with chopped green onions and cilantro if desired.
  8. Serve the steamed suahe hot with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes.
