Now, let's dive into the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 4 cans (15 oz each) of your favorite beans (such as kidney beans, navy beans, or black beans), drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained and rinsed beans, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, chopped onion, and cooked bacon (if using). Stir until well combined.
3. Season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the sweetness and tanginess to your preference.
4. Transfer the bean mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
5. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes, or until the beans are bubbling and the sauce has thickened.
6. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is caramelized and golden brown.
7. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
