Taiwanese Turkey Rice Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Steamed rice, for serving
  • Fried eggs, for topping
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish
Instructions:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant and softened, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine or dry sherry, sugar, and five-spice powder.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked turkey in the skillet, and stir to combine.
  5. Add the chicken broth to the skillet, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  6. Taste the turkey mixture and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
  7. To serve, spoon the turkey mixture over steamed rice in bowls. Top each bowl with a fried egg and garnish with sliced green onions.
  8. Serve the Taiwanese Turkey Rice hot, and enjoy the delicious fusion of flavors!
