Taiwanese Turkey Rice Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine or dry sherry
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Steamed rice, for serving
- Fried eggs, for topping
- Sliced green onions, for garnish
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant and softened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine or dry sherry, sugar, and five-spice powder.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked turkey in the skillet, and stir to combine.
- Add the chicken broth to the skillet, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Taste the turkey mixture and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
- To serve, spoon the turkey mixture over steamed rice in bowls. Top each bowl with a fried egg and garnish with sliced green onions.
