Ingredients:

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Cornmeal or flour, for dusting
For the Marinated Protein:

  • 1 pound protein of your choice (chicken, pork, beef, tofu), thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For the Pickled Vegetables:

  • 1 large carrot, julienned
  • 1 daikon radish, julienned
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
For the Pizza Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha or chili sauce
  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Fresh cilantro leaves
  • Sliced green onions
  • Thinly sliced cucumber
  • Thinly sliced red onion
Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified for your pizza dough.
  2. Prepare the marinated protein: In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, brown sugar, and vegetable oil. Add the thinly sliced protein of your choice and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. Prepare the pickled vegetables: In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and salt are dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Place the julienned carrot and daikon radish in a heatproof jar or bowl and pour the warm pickling liquid over them. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for stronger flavor.
  4. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone dusted with cornmeal or flour.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and Sriracha or chili sauce to make the spicy mayo sauce.
  6. Spread the spicy mayo sauce evenly over the pizza dough.
  7. Arrange the marinated protein on top of the sauce, followed by the pickled vegetables, sliced jalapeños, fresh cilantro leaves, sliced green onions, thinly sliced cucumber, and thinly sliced red onion.
  8. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven according to the instructions for your pizza dough, until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are heated through and slightly caramelized.
  9. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
  10. Serve your Vietnamese-Inspired Banh Mi Pizza hot, and enjoy the delicious fusion of flavors!
