Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
Directions:
  1. In a large pot, cook ground beef and ground pork over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Mix well.
  4. Add chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors meld.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  7. Serve hot, and enjoy your homemade Wendy’s-style chili!
Notes:
  • For added flavor, top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions before serving.
  • This chili can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 3 months.

Love that this recipe uses both ground beef and pork. Adds a nice depth of flavor.
