What's the difference between smashed and mashed potatoes?

Hi everyone, wondering the key differences between smashed and mashed potatoes. Mashed are peeled, boiled, and whipped into a creamy texture, often with butter and milk. Smashed potatoes, though, are partially crushed after boiling, skins on, then baked or roasted for a crispy edge. What are your thoughts on these two styles?

Smashed potatoes are cooked with skin on and then lightly crushed after boiling. Then they're roasted or baked in an oven, leaving them with a crispy crust. It's almost like they have that type of thing where they have the crunchy outside and fluffy inside. They are good in different ways. It only depends on whether it is a creamy or crispy type of spuds that you are in the mood for. 😁

Oh yeah, smashed potatoes are the bomb too! They're cooked with the skin on, then you give 'em a gentle squish after boiling. Pop 'em in the oven to roast and bam, you get that crispy outside and fluffy inside combo. It's all about what mood you're in – creamy or crispy. So good either way I guess! ;)
