Hey fellow badminton fans! With the 2026 BWF rankings freshly updated, I thought it would be a great time to discuss who truly deserves the title of the greatest among the best badminton players in the world right now.
On the men's side, Shi Yuqi is clearly dominating — his 108,247 BWF points and 2024 Thomas Cup win make a strong case. But I personally feel Anders Antonsen deserves more mainstream recognition. Three World Championship titles at 27, with 327 wins? That's elite by any standard.
For women, there's really no debate — An Se-young is in a league of her own. Her 117,270 points lead the entire rankings board, men included. The way she dismantles opponents with speed and stamina is just extraordinary.
What I find really exciting is how players like Li Shifeng and Jonatan Christie are pushing the boundaries of what we expect from the best badminton players at such young ages. Christie hasn't even made his Olympic debut yet!
