Why is my pickled okra so tough?

Quick question: why is my pickled okra turning out so tough? I'm following the recipe but it doesn't seem right. Any tips or tricks to make it tender? Appreciate any advice!

Maybe your okra's too mature—go for smaller, younger pods next time, and don’t overboil before pickling! Hope it helps!
