Ingredients:

For the filling:

  • 6 cups sliced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the topping:
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
Procedure:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking dish or pie plate with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Transfer the seasoned apples to the prepared baking dish, spreading them out into an even layer.
  3. Make the Topping: In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold diced butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Top the Apples: Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish, covering them completely.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the apple crisp for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbling.
  6. Serve: Remove the apple crisp from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Tip: Hope you enjoy my favorite dessert! For an extra cozy touch, try adding a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for added crunch and flavor. It's like a little taste of winter warmth in every bite! 🍎🥧✨
