Ingredients:
- 1 large yuca root
- Water, for boiling
- Salt, to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, cumin, etc.
- Peel the yuca root using a sharp knife. Cut off both ends of the yuca, then slice it into manageable-sized pieces.
- Fill a large pot with water and add salt to taste. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
- Once the water is boiling, add the yuca pieces to the pot. Boil for about 15-20 minutes, or until the yuca is fork-tender but still firm.
- Drain the boiled yuca and let it cool slightly. Use a knife to remove the fibrous core from the center of each yuca piece.
- Cut the yuca into fry-sized pieces, about 1/2 inch thick and 3-4 inches long.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add the yuca fries to the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Fry the yuca fries for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Once the fries are cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Season the yuca fries with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings while they are still hot.
- Serve the Yuca Fries hot, with your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
- For added flavor, you can season the yuca fries with garlic powder, paprika, cumin, or any other spices you like before frying.
- You can also sprinkle chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley or cilantro, over the yuca fries before serving for extra freshness and color.
