Bean Sprout Soup Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups bean sprouts (washed well)
- 5 cups water or vegetable broth
- 4–5 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 1 small onion (sliced)
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional, for flavor)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 green onion (chopped)
- Optional: A few slices of green chili for spice
Instructions
- Prepare the broth
In a pot, add water/broth, garlic, and onion. Bring to a boil. - Add bean sprouts
Add the bean sprouts and boil for 5–7 minutes until they turn slightly translucent. - Season
Add salt, pepper, soy sauce (optional), and stir gently. - Finish with sesame oil
Turn off the heat and drizzle sesame oil for aroma. - Garnish
Add green onions and (optional) green chilies. - Serve hot
Enjoy it as a light meal or alongside rice.
Tips
- Don’t overcook the bean sprouts; they lose freshness if boiled too long.
- You can add a small piece of dried anchovy or kelp to make a more flavorful broth.
- For spicy version, add ½ tsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes).
