Ingredients:
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
- Marinate Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, 1/4 cup soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and brown sugar. Set aside.
- Cook Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook until browned and just cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook Broccoli: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the broccoli florets and cook, stirring frequently, until they are bright green and crisp-tender, about 4-5 minutes.
- Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and fresh ginger to the skillet with the broccoli and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Combine and Thicken: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli, stirring to coat everything evenly. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
- Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the Beef and Broccoli over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
- Enjoy: Dive into this savory and satisfying Beef and Broccoli, and enjoy the delicious flavors of this homemade takeout favorite!
