Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Cream Butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add Sugar: Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating on low speed until incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add Liquid: Add the heavy cream (or milk), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Adjust Consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add more heavy cream or milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar.
- Beat Until Smooth: Continue to beat the frosting until it is smooth, creamy, and holds its shape well.
- Use Immediately: Use the buttercream frosting immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies. If not using right away, cover and store in the refrigerator. Re-whip before using.
- Enjoy: Enjoy the rich and creamy texture of this homemade Buttercream Frosting on all your favorite baked goods!
