- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 and 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
- Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until creamy.
- Gradually add 3 cups of powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beating well after each addition.
- Pour in the milk or cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Beat on medium-high speed for 3-5 minutes, until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- If the frosting is too thick, add more milk or cream, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar, a quarter cup at a time.
- Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, pipe or spread the frosting onto the cupcakes using a piping bag or offset spatula
