Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Optional garnish: sesame seeds, sliced green onions
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to make the teriyaki sauce.
- Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips or bite-sized pieces.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat some oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the chicken is cooked, pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken in the skillet.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add this slurry to the skillet with the chicken and sauce. Stir well to combine.
- Continue cooking the chicken and sauce mixture, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken, about 2-3 minutes.
- Once the sauce has thickened and the chicken is well-coated, remove the skillet from heat.
- Serve the Chicken Teriyaki over cooked rice or noodles, and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
- Enjoy your homemade Chicken Teriyaki!
