Ingredients
cooking spray
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 (7.5-ounce) packages brown sugar and cinnamon spreadable cream cheese, softened
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
2 (8-ounce) packages refrigerated crescent sheets (2 sheets)
1/4 cup salted butter, melted
Cayete (Mexican caramel), warmed (optional) to taste

Directions
  1. Gather all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 13x9-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Evenly sprinkle half of this mixture on the bottom of the pan.
  3. Place one crescent dough sheet in the pan, trimming it as necessary to fit.
  4. For the filling, use a medium bowl to beat together the cream cheese, egg, vanilla, and orange zest with a mixer on medium speed until smooth.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent dough in the pan.
  6. Carefully place the remaining crescent dough sheet over the filling.
  7. Pour the melted butter over the top.
  8. Evenly sprinkle the remaining sugar mixture over the top.
  9. Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly, then cut into bars. Serve warm or refrigerate and serve within 24 hours. Optionally, drizzle with Cajeta just before serving.
