Looking for a healthy dish that's easy to make? I'm sharing here a simple recipe on how to make Chicken Basil Lettuce Wraps that's definitely a great dish to share to your partner, family, or friends!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb (about 225g) ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small bell pepper (any color), diced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 head of lettuce (such as butter lettuce or iceberg), leaves separated
- Optional toppings: sliced green onions, chopped peanuts, chili flakes
Instructions:
- Cook the Chicken Mixture:
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or pan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and chopped onion to the skillet. Sauté until fragrant and onions are translucent, about 2 minutes.
- Add ground chicken to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in diced bell pepper and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Season the Chicken Mixture:
- Pour soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce (if using) over the cooked chicken mixture.
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the mixture.
- Stir well to combine and allow the flavors to meld together, about 1-2 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
- Add Fresh Basil:
- Once the chicken mixture is cooked and seasoned to your liking, turn off the heat.
- Stir in the chopped fresh basil leaves until they are wilted and evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Assemble the Lettuce Wraps:
- Arrange the lettuce leaves on a serving platter or individual plates.
- Spoon a portion of the chicken basil mixture onto each lettuce leaf.
- Serve:
- Garnish the lettuce wraps with optional toppings such as sliced green onions, chopped peanuts, or chili flakes, if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
