- 2 tablespoons butter or drippings from cooked ham
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups ham broth (or substitute with chicken or vegetable broth)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- In a saucepan, melt butter or heat drippings over medium heat.
- Stir in flour and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and bubbly, about 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually stir in ham broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Cook and stir until the gravy thickens and boils. Reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy reaches your desired consistency.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot over sliced ham, mashed potatoes, biscuits, or your favorite side dishes.
