Ingredients:

  • 2-3 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)
  • Optional: cinnamon or salt for seasoning

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C).
  2. Prepare the Bananas:
    • Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. The thinner the slices, the crispier the chips will be.
  3. Prevent Browning:
    • In a bowl, mix the lemon juice with a little water. Dip the banana slices in the lemon juice mixture for about 30 seconds to coat them, then drain.
  4. Arrange on Baking Sheet:
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the banana slices in a single layer on the sheet, making sure they don’t overlap.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 2 to 3 hours. Flip the slices halfway through baking for even drying. Keep an eye on them, as baking times can vary depending on the thickness of the slices.
  6. Cool and Season:
    • Once the chips are golden and crisp, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely. If desired, sprinkle with a little cinnamon or salt for added flavor.
  7. Store:
    • Store your homemade banana chips in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for several days.

Tips:

  • If you have a dehydrator, you can use that instead, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Experiment with different spices or sweeteners for a unique flavor!
Enjoy your homemade banana chips as a healthy snack or a crunchy addition to your breakfast!
