Zapiekanka Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large baguette, halved lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Place the halved baguette on a baking sheet. Evenly distribute the cooked mushroom and onion mixture over the top of each half.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses evenly over the mushrooms.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and drizzle with ketchup. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
  8. Slice and serve hot.
