Ingredients

Ingredients
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
- Mix the butter and sugar: In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat them together until smooth and creamy.
- Add the milk: Gradually add 2 tablespoons of milk and the vanilla extract. Continue to beat the mixture until it reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency. If the icing is too thick, add an additional tablespoon of milk.
- Color the icing: If you want to add color, divide the icing into separate bowls and mix in a few drops of food coloring until you reach the desired shade.
- Spread or pipe the icing: Use a spatula or piping bag to apply the icing to your baked goods. It’s great for spreading on cakes or cookies and perfect for piping decorative designs on cupcakes.
