Ingredients:

  • 6 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Optional: red pepper flakes or gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) for heat

Instructions:

  1. Hard boil the eggs by placing them in a pot and covering them with water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-12 minutes.
  2. Once the eggs are cooked, remove them from the hot water and place them in a bowl of ice water to cool. Once cooled, peel the eggs and set them aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, sesame seeds, and sliced green onions. If desired, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or gochugaru for heat.
  4. Place the peeled eggs in the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to develop.
  5. Before serving, slice the eggs in half lengthwise and arrange them on a serving plate. Drizzle any remaining marinade over the eggs as a sauce.
  6. Garnish with additional sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  7. Serve the Mayak Eggs as a flavorful appetizer or snack.
