  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef, pork, or a combination of both
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix everything together until well combined. You can use your hands for this, but be gentle and try not to overwork the mixture.
  3. Once the mixture is well combined, take small portions (about 1 to 2 tablespoons) and roll them into meatballs using your hands. Place the formed meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  4. Once all the meatballs are formed, drizzle them lightly with olive oil. This will help them brown nicely in the oven.
  5. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside. You can check for doneness by cutting into one of the larger meatballs to ensure there's no pinkness inside.
  6. Once cooked, remove the meatballs from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Enjoy your homemade meatballs!
