I recently tried this nuts and bolts recipe for a New Year's snack, and it was a huge hit! It’s crunchy, savory, and has just the right amount of spice to keep everyone reaching for more. Perfect for a party or just to snack on while you’re relaxing. Here’s how you can make it:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups pretzels (mini pretzels work best)
- 2 cups Chex cereal (corn or rice)
- 1 cup mixed nuts (salted or unsalted)
- 1 cup cheese crackers
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a bit of heat)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the pretzels, Chex cereal, mixed nuts, and cheese crackers.
- Prepare the Seasoning Mix: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt.
- Toss and Coat: Pour the butter mixture over the dry ingredients and toss well to coat everything evenly.
- Bake: Spread the mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even baking.
- Cool and Serve: Once it’s golden brown and crispy, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely. Break it into pieces and enjoy!
