Ingredients:
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 pound ground beef (or a mixture of beef and pork)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 4 cups beef or chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spoon, until fully cooked.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot with the cooked ground beef, and sauté for a few minutes until the onion is softened and translucent.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and beef or chicken broth, and stir to combine.
- Season the sauce with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper, to taste. Stir well to incorporate the seasonings into the sauce.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then add the uncooked spaghetti directly to the pot, breaking it in half if necessary to fit.
- Use a spoon to gently push the spaghetti into the sauce, ensuring that it is fully submerged.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and let the spaghetti simmer for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked to al dente and the sauce has thickened.
- While the spaghetti is cooking, roll the ground beef mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Drop the meatballs directly into the simmering sauce and pasta, making sure they are evenly distributed.
- Continue to simmer the spaghetti and meatballs for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Once the spaghetti and meatballs are fully cooked, remove the pot from the heat.
- Serve the One-Pot Spaghetti with Meatballs hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley if desired.
- Enjoy this hearty and delicious meal with your family, and savor the convenience of cooking everything in just one pot!
