  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

For the Glaze (optional):​

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons orange juice

Instructions:​

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  5. Incorporate Orange: Mix in the orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract (if using).
