For the Peppermint Bark Topping:
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Make the Brownies:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
    • Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, and stir until just combined.
    • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
    • Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  3. Prepare the Peppermint Bark Topping:
    • Once the brownies are cool, melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 15-second intervals and stirring between each until smooth.
    • Stir in the peppermint extract.
    • Pour the melted white chocolate over the cooled brownies and spread it into an even layer.
  4. Add the Chocolate and Peppermint:
    • Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a separate bowl, then drizzle the melted chocolate over the white chocolate layer.
    • Use a toothpick or knife to swirl the chocolates together for a marbled effect.
    • Sprinkle the crushed candy canes or peppermint candies over the top.
  5. Chill and Serve:
    • Place the brownies in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set the peppermint bark topping.
    • Once set, remove from the pan and cut into squares.
Enjoy these Peppermint Bark Brownies as a festive treat that combines rich chocolatey goodness with a refreshing peppermint twist! 🍫🍬
