Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup cheese curds
  • 1 cup beef or chicken gravy

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Potatoes: Peel and cut the potatoes into 1/4-inch thick fries. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.
  2. Fry the Potatoes: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden and crispy, about 5-6 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt.
  3. Heat the Gravy: Warm the gravy in a saucepan over medium heat until hot.
  4. Assemble: Place the fries on a serving plate, top with cheese curds, and pour hot gravy over them.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your homemade poutine!
Optional: You can bake the fries at 450°F (230°C) for a healthier version.
