Sakana no Nitsuke - Simmered Fish Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 fish fillets (such as snapper, cod, or mackerel)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 1/4 cup sake
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 small piece of ginger, thinly sliced
- Optional: green onions or daikon radish for garnish
Instructions:
1. In a pot, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and water, and bring to a simmer.
2. Add the ginger slices and place the fish fillets in the pot.
3. Simmer the fish over low heat, spooning the sauce over the top, until the fish is cooked through and the sauce thickens.
4. Serve the fish with a generous amount of the sauce, garnished with green onions or daikon if desired.
