Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my favorite homemade Sweet and Sour Pork recipe. This one hits all the right notes—crispy, tangy, and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s way better than takeout (IMO), and once you try it, you might not go back! Let me know if you give it a shot. 😊

Ingredients:

For the pork:

  • 1 lb pork shoulder (cut into bite-sized cubes)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch (for coating)
  • Oil for frying

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice (from canned pineapple works great!)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (to thicken)

Veggies & Extras:

  • 1/2 cup bell peppers (red & green, chopped)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 small onion (chopped)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the pork – Mix pork cubes with salt, pepper, soy sauce, and egg. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Coat & fry – Dredge pork in cornstarch until fully coated. Deep-fry in hot oil (350°F) until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the sauce – In a pan, mix ketchup, vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, and pineapple juice. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Thicken it up – Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
  5. Combine everything – Toss in bell peppers, onions, and pineapple chunks. Cook for 2 minutes, then add crispy pork. Toss to coat.
  6. Serve – Best over steamed rice! 🍚

I think this recipe is a great balance of flavors—sweet, sour, crispy, and juicy. What do you guys think? Anyone got their own twist on it? 👀🔥
