Are you a tomato lover like me? Here's a simple and delicious three-ingredient tomato sauce recipe:
Ingredients:
- Canned Crushed Tomatoes: 1 can (28 oz)
- Garlic: 2-3 cloves, minced
- Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
- Salt and Pepper: to taste (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Garlic:
- Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves.
- Cook the Garlic:
- In a saucepan or skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the Tomatoes:
- Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes into the pan with the garlic and olive oil.
- Stir well to combine.
- Simmer the Sauce:
- Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer over low to medium heat.
- Let it simmer uncovered for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
- If you prefer a smoother consistency, you can use an immersion blender to blend the sauce directly in the pan.
- Season to Taste:
- Once the sauce has simmered to your desired consistency, taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve or Store:
- Use the sauce immediately over pasta, pizza, or any dish of your choice.
- Alternatively, let the sauce cool completely before storing it in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week. This sauce also freezes well for longer storage.
Tips:
- Enhance with Herbs: You can add dried herbs like oregano, basil, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
- Onion Variation: If you like, you can sauté finely chopped onion along with the garlic for added depth.
- Fresh Tomatoes: If you have fresh tomatoes on hand, you can substitute them for canned tomatoes; just blanch, peel, and crush them before adding to the sauce.
