Yummy Pudding, wanna try?
Ingredients:
- 140g plain flour
- 4 large eggs
- 200ml milk
- Sunflower oil or beef dripping, for cooking
- Salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Make the Batter:
- Sift the flour into a large bowl and make a well in the center.
- Crack the eggs into the well and whisk together, gradually incorporating the flour.
- Gradually add the milk while whisking until you have a smooth batter.
- Season with a pinch of salt.
- Rest the Batter:
- Let the batter rest for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flour to absorb the liquid and gives you a lighter pudding.
- Prepare the Tin:
- Add a small amount of oil or beef dripping (traditional) to each section of a muffin tin or a Yorkshire pudding tin (if you have one). Place the tin in the preheated oven until the fat is smoking hot.
- Cooking:
- Carefully pour the batter into the hot tin, filling each section about halfway.
- Bake:
- Place the tin back in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes until the puddings are well risen, golden brown, and crisp.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately. Yorkshire puddings are traditionally served with roast beef and gravy, but they can also accompany other roasted meats and vegetables.
Tips:
- Ensure the oil or dripping in the tin is very hot before pouring in the batter. This helps achieve a good rise and crisp texture.
- Don't open the oven door too early in the baking process to avoid the puddings deflating.
- You can experiment with adding herbs or spices to the batter for extra flavor.
