Hey everyone! I wanted to share this fantastic recipe for Cheese and Chive Scones that I’ve been making lately. They’re perfect for breakfast or as a savory snack with your tea! They come together pretty quickly and are always a hit. Here’s how you can make them:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
  • 3/4 cup milk (plus a bit more for brushing)
  • 1 large egg (for brushing)
Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the cheese and chives.
  5. Add the milk gradually, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
  7. Cut the dough into squares or use a round cutter to shape the scones.
  8. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with a mixture of the beaten egg and a splash of milk for a nice golden finish.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.
