Hey everyone! I wanted to share this fantastic recipe for Cheese and Chive Scones that I’ve been making lately. They’re perfect for breakfast or as a savory snack with your tea! They come together pretty quickly and are always a hit. Here’s how you can make them:
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
- 3/4 cup milk (plus a bit more for brushing)
- 1 large egg (for brushing)
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the cheese and chives.
- Add the milk gradually, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut the dough into squares or use a round cutter to shape the scones.
- Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with a mixture of the beaten egg and a splash of milk for a nice golden finish.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.
