Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup cold milk (or buttermilk)
Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in Butter: Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and cut it in with a pastry cutter or fork until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add Milk: Slowly pour in the cold milk and stir until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Shape the Biscuits: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, gently knead a few times, and pat it into a 1/2-inch thick circle. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out biscuits.
  6. Bake: Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Serve: Serve warm with butter, jam, or gravy!
So fluffy and buttery—just like the store-bought ones but homemade!
