Ingredients:

  • 2 cups long grain white rice, such as basmati or jasmine
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, optional
Instructions:

  1. Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer under cold running water. Drain well and transfer to the Instant Pot.
  2. Add water and salt (if using) to the Instant Pot. Stir to ensure all rice is submerged in water, not sticking to the sides.
  3. Close the lid of the Instant Pot and set the steam release valve to the sealing position.
  4. Select the Pressure Cook or Manual setting and cook at high pressure for 4 minutes. It will take about 10 minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure.
  5. Once the cooking cycle completes, allow the pressure to release naturally for at least 15 minutes. Avoid opening the lid during this time.
  6. After 15 minutes, carefully move the steam release valve to the venting position to quick release any remaining pressure. When the pressure indicator drops, it's safe to open the lid.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
