Hey there! So, I tried making Japanese sushi at home last night because I loved it so much at a restaurant my friends and I went to. Turns out, it's easier than I thought! Here's how I did it:
Ingredients (for 2-3 servings):
I hope you find making it as enjoyable as I did!

Ingredients (for 2-3 servings):
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 3 nori (seaweed) sheets
- Assorted fillings: cucumber, avocado, crab sticks, smoked salmon, tuna, etc.
- Soy sauce, for dipping
- Wasabi paste, for serving
- Pickled ginger, for serving
- Start by rinsing your sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Then, cook it according to package instructions and let it cool slightly.
- While the rice is cooking, prepare your fillings. Slice the cucumber, avocado, and any other desired ingredients into thin strips.
- Once the rice is ready, lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat or a clean kitchen towel. Spread a thin layer of rice evenly over the nori, leaving about a 1-inch border at the top edge.
- Arrange your fillings in a line across the center of the rice. Be creative and mix and match your favorite ingredients!
- Now, it's time to roll! Using the sushi mat or towel, tightly roll the nori and rice over the fillings, applying gentle pressure as you go.
- Once rolled, use a sharp knife to slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to keep it clean.
- Serve your homemade sushi with soy sauce, wasabi paste, and pickled ginger on the side for dipping and extra flavor.
