Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (such as shiitake or button mushrooms)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish
Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey or brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to make the marinade.
  2. Place the thinly sliced beef in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Toss to coat the beef evenly. Let the beef marinate for at least 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion, bell peppers, mushrooms, and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss with the vegetables to combine.
